Teofilius Matulionis
Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord

The Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord in Kaišiadorys has the chapel of the Blessed Teofilius Matulionis and the Cathedral Tower where Teofilius Matulionis hid a Jewish girl. Teofilius Matulionis rests in the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord in Kaišiadorys. It was started to be built as a church in 1906 and finished as a cathedral in 1932. The building is in neo-Gothic style with neo-Romanesque decoration on the facade. The cathedral is characterized by graceful proportions. Its unique feature is the relatively low chapels attached to the main building on either side of the naves. All this creates a well-proportioned and harmonious architectural wholeness of the building.
