In Rainiai forest near Telšiai at night from June 24th to 25th in 1941, the massacre of prisoners took place, during which 73 intellectuals, including lawyers, politicians and other “enemies of the people”, including Vladas Petronaitis were killed. In memory of the victims in Rainiai, a chapel was built and an oak tree of memory was planted.
